Environmental acceptable use of sewage sludge in soil remediation


Since the chemical composition of the sewage-sludges is very varied, and we have to be prepared for that the sludges can contain heavy metals within wide ranges, therefore for modelling the wider concentration intervals we conduct vessel (UCM),  small-plot (CVRV) and field experiments, at the same time. To study the effects of the examined sewage-sludges and/or granulates we will apply different industrial crop grown wide-spread (eg. barley) and potentially hyper accumulator plants (eg. giant reed Arundo donax, Thlaspi caerulescens). The strategy applied for the examination of the sewage-sludges based on the method of comparative analyses. For the assessment of the impact on plants we examine their morphologic characteristics, their phenotypical appearance, certain physiological parameters and the quantity of crop and the amount of the generated biomass. We would like to conduct certain inspections in aquaculture experiments.
